I’m a RESEARCHER at heart. Information makes me FEEL prepared, like I can handle ANYTHING. Before I became a mom I read everything, took ALL the classes. I was PREPARED. Then I had a kid. And in one day (actually 13 hours!) EVERYTHING in my life CHANGED.
I thought it was bananas that NOBODY was talking to me about what I was going through. The shift from woman to mother was DRAMATIC, yet everybody was focused on my BABY and how happy I must be. I was thrilled, of course! I LOVED my baby, but I didn’t love Motherhood. So, you guessed it, I started researching. I LEARNED so much about Motherhood and about myself. Then, I started TALKING to anyone who would LISTEN. I talked about the things that were HAPPENING to me and ALL the moms I knew. Almost 15 years later I'm still talking (and researching and learning!). Talking, HONESTLY and AUTHENTICALLY, about Motherhood helps me and I have FOUND it helps others too. I'd LOVE to talk with YOU! |
Every time I see these two pictures, especially side-by-side, I crack-up. To me they illustrate my entry into Motherhood. I call it "going through the looking glass". They are both me, but the 'After' Myla is changed forever, in ways she can only begin to understand. :)
